The Self Promotion Of Al Gomes

|

A great deal is being said about Al Gomes. He is found on many blogs and websites throughout the internet. Many of these say good things about him, including Wikipedia. And yet, others say, he is a scam.

Gomes founded big Noise in 1990 to help independent artists with their music. This company is dedicated to assisting newly signed talent in art direction and money management. However, some are questioning his commitment to these artists. Also, they also want to know if he has been one hundred percent truthful.

And yet, a few are questioning his company's business ethics, as well as his credentials. They say he lies. They claim that he actually didn't work with the people on his website, including Christian Aguilera, Little Anthony, and Little Anthony, as well as many others. Perhaps he did have some minor connection with these famous people. If he did then some of his statements would be true. It is difficult to know if he is totally truthful or not.

His website readily promotes his support for The Band Wagon Project. This was a music based charity event. It brought in loads of money to bring awareness to the homeless and their need for food. Al Gomes is also marketing his song Three Side of Hunger on this site.

And yet, even with his humanitarian efforts, rumors circulate. It doesn't totally make sense. However, there are some warning signs as to whether or not a company is legitimate or not. Disreputable companies usually do two things. First they play to the artist's ego. And secondly, they want their money. And apparently, from what people are saying, Big Noise has been responsible for doing both.

Be wary if an agent or publisher says the music is 'great', or it 'sounds wonderful'. If they are legit they will probably have considerably more to say. Every truly dedicated agent knows it's going to take some effort to promote an unknown.

Look for a swindle if they ask for money. True people in the industry receive a cut of the proceeds from the artists work. If the musician succeeds, they succeed. And if they want someone to do well, they will be extremely interested in the person.

Don't be afraid to pummel them with questions. Cross-examine them, be hard nosed about specifics. Expect to know everything, nothing should be hidden. All things should be discussed. An honest company will tell everything. A dishonest one will hedge, or go on the defensive.

With all the information out there, it looks like everyone will have to judge for themselves as to whether Big Noise is a total scam operation, or whether this is a media ploy to direct more attention to Al Gomes. The only person who knows for sure is Mr. Gomes.
