It was hard to beat for this price. It looks like it has a good design. Luckily, my phone survived without any defect. It's fallen down on the seat twice.
I know there is a HTC Evo dock designed for the HTC Evo but there are two problems with it, one it only works for the Evo itself and no other phones and two it will not work if your Evo has a case on it. I purchased this one, now I can leave my Otterbox defender case on and it will still fit in the mount, plus if someone else happens to be driving my car they can use the mount for their phone as well. The one thing that I have a problem with is the clips on the sides of the holding piece. When I use my iPod touch on it, they interfere with the volume buttons, but it doesn't take much tweaking to fix that.
I have since found that the microphone on the Evo is on the bottom of the phone, and the position of the feet can block the microphone opening. If you slide the feet to a certain position, you can open the microphone and the voice control works much better.
Could not use the phone mount on my vent. Even though my "Con" section is bigger than my "Pro" section, I still do like this phone mount, and I would recommend it to a friend. After a third and fourth attempt with both the individual and customer service, I just wrote the loss off. It looks good, but trust me - the quality is terrible. This was fairly obvious out-of-the-box on how to assemble it and mount it to the air vents, which is a plus; simple design is always a good thing. It took me 5 minutes to put it together and mount it. It would have 5 Stars if I could use the AC mount. All you need to get the job done, thanks ok so I have the HTC Evo 4g and I wanted some kind of car dock to hold it for GPS use.
Works like a charm. It doesn't affect vision of wind shield. I wanted something that would hold my Droid, which has the hard case around it. This works great. I only knocked off a star for the vent mount problems but it is a very well-made product that has excellent value. Drive safe everyone! The adapter had enough adjustment to securely fasten to the vent. It also allows for 360 degree rotation of the holder, with some angling ability, and can be locked in any position. There is no interference with the power plug. The side clamps are notched so they don't make contact with the volume controls.
This product earns my 4 stars as I rarely give out 5 stars unless it's way above my expectations. This product offers a good balance of quality, style and price.
