You Get What You Pay For - Wireless Headphones Review Review

|

Don't get me wrong, the RS 190s are great if you're primary interested in listening to music but if you're looking for home theater quality sound for movies or games, then look no further. The RS 180 are prefect for that purpose.

The headphones are comfortable though I would like a bit more padding spanning the entire headband. The buttons on the headphones that control power, volume and balance (handy if you have asymmetrical hearing deficits) are too small and flat. Great product! I have been using my Sennheiser RS 180 Digital Wireless Headphone System for five weeks now.

I finally ended up with the Blu ray of Transformers. Now again I have to mention that my Sony receiver was found lacking.

I think most people would still prefer the manual controls on the RS140 instead of the RS180s digital controls if they had could try both. This seems to be a sad case where Senheisser tried to 'upgrade' the product by installing fancier digital controls, but sacrificed, perhaps unwittingly, usability. I would have preferred to have a nice manufacturer booklet. The packaging was so secure that it took me some time to actually get into the box. I bought a set of these a few weeks ago. I'm an overnight worker and try to keep my sleep pattern regular, so I'm often up all night on my nights off. After it dried in about an hour, it left those buttons with a raised "bump" that my fingers can easily find. The on/off/standby button is between the volume buttons, so it is now easy to find with my fingers also. But day to day, incredible range and quality (I live in a townhouse and I can go between floors). It's much better than my older RS130. If you accidentally hit one of the balance buttons, you can hold down both balance buttons at the same time to reset. Oh, and one other potential drawback: they make the wearer look like a total dork. The high end could be just a tad broader, the soundstage is (IMHO) too wide, but for less than 300 bucks, you could not do better. I have five other pairs of high quality phones by Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic, but had given up on finding a decent pair of wireless phones until discovering these.

So, I'm very happy to rate these headphones at an Excellent 5 stars out of 5. It took me a long time to pull the trigger on these headphones, but believe me it was well worth the money.

However this is a quality headset. It is worth its high price tag in my opinion. I've had these for a month or more. The have a beautifully comfortable fit, a high quality sound that reaches out to the end of my yard and everywhere in my house. I used these to replace a set of Sennheiser RS 140 wireless headphones. Unlike the 140, the 180 are digital -- no static or white noise.
