The suction cup for the windshield is nice and heavy duty and doesn't let go in the hot sun the way my Garmin will. The vent clip fits on both my old S70 Volvo and my wife's Audi but isn't quite as tight gripped onto the fins of the vent as I would like. I haven't used the A/C mount so I can't report on that. I've bought cell phone mounts before and they all turned out to be junk.
This product gets the job done. I've had no issue with my phone (an Evo 4G) falling out, and I put in my vent and haven't had any issues with the weight pulling it out.
I like this product a lot. The only thing is it shakes a little too much and is at its last click for tightness on my droid incredible, but it still is a great design! As a mount for a 'normal'/smaller/lighter phone, this is exactly what you want. It is solidly built, cheap, and very versatile. This product earns my 4 stars as I rarely give out 5 stars unless it's way above my expectations. This product offers a good balance of quality, style and price. The camera sits above the mount so you can use it to shoot video while driving. The only negative comment I have with this product is the vent mount. What this does is extend the two large padded arms as far out as they can go, and then you set your device in and squeeze the arms until they hold your device snugly. Then, to release, you just press the release button and the arms extend out again, releasing your device.
I've heard the clip doesn't reach far enough into the vent to work, but I don't use it. I wouldn't have written this review unless it was five stars or zero.
I point this out because the bottom arms have the potential to cover the microphone (it's a near thing) on an uncased phone. That said, the side supports are "grippy" enough that they can hold it up if needed (or you can place it on its side).
It is an inexpensive device, a little more bulky than necessary on the sides of the mount (and why would you want that if you have a sleek phone"). Mostly does what it is supposed to and is cheap, which is what I was going for being skeptical as to whether it would fit correctly. I haven't tried the dashboard mount or the windshield mount yet, but I'm sure they work even better. The air vent clip is a little tricky; I had to get it just right so it wouldn't slip out. It's a great idea, but poor quality materials or design. Since I already have a GPS mounted on my windshield, I was excited to be able to use the vent mount for my HTC Incredible.
I have a Samsung Captivate and the adjustable side arms hold it tight without blocking any of the side buttons on the phone. The Captivate is also tall enough that the rear speaker is not covered.
I move around a lot from different cars, this thing still sticks with no licking of the suction cup. My only problem is that it has a short arm for the cars I drive, so it must be next to the rearview mirror.
